Boot Knives, Belt Knives, Mora knife
Mora knife, originally translated from the Swedish word âMoraknivâ, means a belt knife. It is similar to the Finnish puukkosa boot knife, with a fixed blade, a sheath and a belt/boot clip.
âMora" alludes to a range of knives crafted in the town of Mora, Dalarna, Sweden. These knives have found favor in the bush-craft community, due to its tactical design and comparatively low price-tag. They come highly recommended by notable bush-craft teachers Ray Mears and Mors Kochanski. .
The forging of Mora knives dates back to Medieval tradition. The blade is forged of three slabs of steel. The core section of the blade is forged out of crucible steel, which is extremely tough. The edges of the blade are of softer, more resilient steel. Due to its unique design and construction, a Mora Knife is an excellent tool. It does not break easily, holds its edge well, and can even c! ut through iron and softer steel.
